John’s animation was featured in seminal surf films like Five Summer Stories. He designed skateboards for Hang Ten and brands like Bear Surfboards, Jimmy Z and LA Gear.

Recognized with an Academy Award (1980) and Emmy Award (2024) for his technical contributions to the film and television industries.

Author of two books, John also paints in large format. His work is on permanent display at The California Surf Museum.
